How can dowry still exist?

Have you sold your daughter or bought your son-in-law, while setting the marriage? If you have sold your daughter then you should get the money and if you have bought a boy for your girl then the product (The Boy) should be with you. Am I not right?

As per the conventional marriage statistics; boy’s family asks for money from the girl’s parents and take the girl along with them. But as per the logic goes when you get money you should give the commodity to the other party. So in that case the boy should come to girl’s family. But on the contrary, girl is sent to boy’s family.

All of this is coming to me, as one of my acquaintances got married in a well-educated family and had to give a handsome amount of cash plus other things to the boy’s side.

Now this girl has two younger sisters. Now you just imagine the amount of cash outflow from his home to other family’s account; probably near to a crore(also adding the amount of expenditure on his daughter’s wedding EVENT. Remember it’s not just wedding now, its wedding "EVENT”)

Imagine before setting a marriage,  how a girl’s parents ask/beg/broadcast, in their community to take their hard-earned money along with their girl whom they have raised with so much care and love.
Aur ab papa bolenege ki “Aao Beti ke saath paisa bhi le jayo”

How, when and why this **&#*&!@#&) tradition, started in our society? Why are we still practicing it? Why the so called modern girls are still OK with it?

Chalo, its ok you give money, but then why not bring that boy to your own home, Girl? And why not ask him to bring the money from his parents (uska maika), for his maintenance.

Please Stop Giving DOWRY and stop Taking it. It's your greed who take it & it's your assumed compulsion to give it.

    Excellent post. A scene from a Tamil movie comes to my mind. The bride is telling the groom: Not only I have to pay you for marrying me, and, immediately after marriage I have to stand naked in front of you.

    Seriously, both side should avoid dowry. When my brother was getting married my parents did not want any dowry. Some of the bride relatives thought there was something wrong with the groom and that is why they are refusing dowry.

      That is so true..even the girls parents start doubting ... Irony ..dlwry has become a status symbol too..ppl feel pride...that we hv givrn this much and that much...sad
